Wow, for Gracie to work thru that annoying dog next door is amazing!! That would drive me crazy…
Re: the other hats – one is near odor, so there could be some odor drifting over. Or yeah, sure, maybe because she was checking out who those people were.
As for her confusion, there is no reason NOT to pay each time if your dog is still working and hunting and you’re not running out of time. I think it’s good to explore what happens when you do stop paying, tho’, just so you have an idea. In the heat of competition people feel the pressure and sometimes change their payment routine so the dog gets confused and offers other behaviors. I think if you’re still paying her consistently in trials, I wouldn’t worry about it.
In this search Gracie is pretty clear when she’s found all the hides. You’re right, she does glance over to the dog a couple of times and then keeps going back to the hides she’s found.
