I know it is challenging when you are working a search “as if” you don’t know where the hide is but you really do. Approach the search area as if the hide could be either side. This is why *I* choose to have my dog somewhat centered in front of me so I’m not blocking anything.
Ah, “the look.” Yep, hard to know what is “the look” vs. “The Look.” I would wager that Taku checks in quite a bit for reassurance but when he’s diligently working to find odor SOURCE, AND he looks at you, that is “The Look.” If you know where odor is you will have a better ability to listen. And yes, of course, consider your hide placement in advance to know what you are willing to take. 🙂
