Two of the things I love about Baxter the most is his resilience and his persistence. He just kept trying and trying to find that source! What a good boy! 🙂
So that’s actually some really good news! I hope by reviewing this video you can see all the places that (a) you could have rewarded him, (b) where odor was moving to and (c) how he used these things to bracket down to where source was located. He had success!
I’m sure it wasn’t intentional but you just added a new layer of training for Baxter. The challenge – as I’m sure you learned – is to have him make a decision that he CANNOT get to a hide within a set time frame! In the real world it wouldn’t matter. In the artificial context of competition and time limits it matters a great deal.
