I started Nose Work in January 2011. Having been in Law Enforcement, I always wanted to do somethnig related to scent detection, but you had to be active duty in law enforcement to do it. I almost was a K9 Scent detection handler in the late 90's but due to budget issues, the program was ddropped. I tried for SAr, but due to my health and other limitations, it wasn't a good idea for me to do SAR if they would have to send out a party looking for me if something happened to me. I moved to San Diego in 2008 and was aware the sport started but was trying to settle in San Diego first, and then finally got involved in January 2011. Nose Work is the only sport I participate, I do not compete in any other sport. I am partnered with Mickey one title in NW3. L1C (retired assistance dog), Divine NW1, L1C (my current assistance dog) and Duffy. only passed birch and Anise ORT. This sport keeps me alive and moving. I',m so grateful for the founders and founding instructors for making this sport happen.
